A Jonesborough man died after the car he was driving crashed into a church building Monday in Elizabethton.
Officials said the accident took place about 11 p.m. Monday.
Matthew E. Anderson, 37, was driving a silver-colored Toyota Corolla that crossed Highway 19-E from Peter Hampton Drive and crashed into the west side of Rivers Edge Fellowship Church, in the 1200 block of Highway 19-E.
Anderson was transported to Sycamore Shoals Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
The Elizabethton Police Department’s Specialized Accident Reconstruction Team is performing the investigation into the cause of the crash.
