To the Editor:
As a resident and voter in Carter County, Tenn., since 2000, I am tired of the dishonesty surrounding politics that has only grown worse. We need to recruit as many nonpartisan volunteers as possible to ensure that no eligible voter is turned away from the polls in the 2022 elections.
In America, voters should have the final say. Unfortunately, far-right extremists, at the urging of former President Trump, engaged in a criminal conspiracy to promote and pay for election sabotage efforts, which culminated in the deadly attack on our Capitol on January 6, 2021.
The House Select Committee has been holding hearings to clearly present the facts in a nonpartisan manner, and we should support these efforts. Holding accountable everyone involved in this crime will ensure this never happens again, and that elected officials respect the will of the people.
Our Tennessee legislature is enacting new laws that go against the will of the majority of the people in our state. At this point, our only recourse is to make our voices heard at the polls in our upcoming elections. This means we need enough volunteers in the Volunteer State to register and volunteer for Election Protectors. Make sure we protect the results of the 2022 election by going to cmnca.us/jan6ep and signing up as a volunteer.
Many thanks!

Sincerely,
Barbara Murphy
