Ester Carrier Stout, 91, Elizabethton, passed away Wednesday, July 6, 2022, at NHC Health Care, Johnson City. She went to meet her savior, celebrating with family and friends with a smile and grace.
A native of Carter County, she was born September 5, 1930 to the late Alex and Bessie Birchfield Carrier.
Ester was a member of Harmony Baptist Church. She devoted her life to God and family and her late husband, Harry E. Stout, supporting him in his travels as he sang with the Psalmsmen Quartet to spread the words of Jesus Christ.
Ester retired from Levi Strauss after 16 years. She also worked until age 80. She loved sitting on her porch watching the river.
Survivors include her children, Glenda Bumgarner, Steve Stout and Karen Dugger. She had 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Violet Bowers. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Special love to Gary and Tom Stout, Roy Livingston, Rowena Dunn and Mike Strickland and appreciation to April Hall.
A graveside service will be held at a later date in the Emmert Cemetery with the Rev. Jerry Lyons and Pastor Timothy Adkins officiating.
