Carter County Schools announce calendar for the 2022-23 school year

The Carter County School Board approved its calendar for the 2022-23 school year on Thursday.

Under the new calendar, the first day of classes will be Aug. 11, with the last day of classes set for May 25, 2023.

Registration for all students is Aug. 9, and Kindergarten phase-in days are Aug. 11 through 17.

New teachers report on Aug. 4 with pre-school year inservice days for all faculty and staff on Aug. 8 and Aug. 10.

Breaks will include the following for students and teachers:

Labor Day, Sept. 5
Fall Break, Oct. 10-14
Thanksgiving Break, Nov. 23-25
Winter Break, Dec. 21 through Jan. 2, 2023
MLK Day, Jan. 16, 2023
Spring Break, March 27-31, 2023
Good Friday/Easter: April 7 and April 10, 2023.

Abbreviate days include Dec. 20, March 24 and May 25.

Teacher work days, which require teachers to work but students are dismissed, include:
Aug. 4-5, new teachers
Aug. 8 and Aug. 19, inservice
Oct. 28, Regional PD Day
Oct. 31, virtual instruction for students
Nov. 8, inservice
Jan. 4, inservice
May 8, inservice
