According to Sheriff Keith Sexton, around 1:45 a.m. on July 30,, a Black Chevrolet pickup was observed by a Washington County Sheriff’s Office Deputy traveling on North Roan Street with two flat tires on the right side.
A traffic stop was initiated by the deputy near Pepper Ridge Court. A female driver, Jaeda Burkey, 43, Johnson City, was operating the vehicle and appeared to be intoxicated. A passenger, Michael Ramsey, 57, Johnson City, also appeared to be intoxicated.
Burkey refused standardized field sobriety testing and was then arrested for driving under the influence (first offense) and violation of implied consent.
Ramsey became very combative and made threats toward officers. Ramsey then punched a deputy in the face and had to be tased before becoming compliant. Ramsey was charged with assault on an officer, resisting arrest and public intoxication.
Burkey’s bond was set at $1,000 and Ramsey’s bond was set at $6,500. Both will be arraigned in Washington County General Sessions Court on Monday, Aug. 1.
