Patricia Jessee Hicks, 82, of Sharpsburg, Ga., passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family on Sunday, August 7, 2022, in Jackson, Tenn. She was born in Elizabethton, Tenn., on February 24 1940, the fourth child of Thomas and Fanny Kelly Jessee. Pat was married to the love of her life, Caroll Hicks, in 1958. She was a treasured wife, mother of two daughters, grandmother of five grandsons, great-grandmother of three, aunt, cousin and friend. She was loved by all who knew her.
Pat attended Elizabethton High School and the University of West Georgia. She and Caroll moved to Peachtree City, Ga., in 1970, and Pat was the original Peachtree City Welcome Center hostess in the early 1970s. She then joined Trammel Real Estate as the office manager, then became a real estate agent for Tri-Cities Real Estate, where she was a very successful agent and purchased the Peachtree City office, renaming it Prudential Pat Hicks Real Estate. Upon the death of her husband Caroll, she sold the company to Prudential Atlanta Realty, and assumed the title of President of Caroll’s lighting fixture manufacturing and importing company, Phase Two Lighting. Pat retired in 2006.
Pat and Caroll were world travelers, and enjoyed many international trips and cruises. They enjoyed 39 years of their happy marriage. They loved their grandchildren, and enjoyed family trips together.
In the early 1970s, Pat and Caroll were founding members of the First Baptist Church of Peachtree City, where she taught teen Sunday School and sang in the choir for many years. Pat was among the first group of women to be admitted to the Rotary Club of Peachtree City, and was a Paul Harris Fellow. She enjoyed being a part of The Peachtree City Originals.
Pat was preceded in death by her husband, Caroll Hicks; her brothers, Wayne Jessee, Jack Jessee, Ronnie Jessee, and Harvey Jessee; and Sugar, her beloved companion of 18 years.
Pat is survived by her beloved daughters, Kathie (Steve) Fuston and Keely (Wyatt) Haynie; grandchildren, Bert (Jesse) Couch, Brent (Cassie) Couch, Logan Haynie, Travis (Emily) Haynie, and Nick Haynie; great-grandchildren, Blake Couch, Matthew Haynie, and Rose Couch; her much-loved companion Sallie; her sister, Jerri Simerly; her Sisters-in-Love, Irene Jessee and Darlene Jessee; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Visitation will be at Carmichael-Hemperley Funeral Home in Peachtree City on Saturday, August 13, from noon until 1 p.m., with a celebration of Pat’s life to follow in the chapel at 1 p.m.
