On Tuesday, August 9, 2022 our beloved mother, sister, grandmother and friend, Sharon Ann (Harmon) Helbert, passed away at the age of 60. Sharon was born on February 18, 1962 to the late Renis “Did” and Martha (Dugger) Harmon. In addition to her parents, Sharon was preceded in death by her husband, Vince Helbert, in 2004, and a brother-in-law, Counce Guy.
Sharon was a warm, loving and caring woman who loved her family and most especially her beautiful granddaughters without limits. Sharon was selfless and always willing to do whatever she could for her family, friends and even those she didn’t know would be a friend as soon as she met them and smiled her beautiful, genuine smile. She was very hardworking, having worked at Bell for over 25 years until moving to Borla Exhaust where she retired. The joy of her life was her family and spending time with them making memories and loving on her grandchildren.
Those left to remember and cherish the memories Sharon made include her beloved son, Vince Helbert, and his children (the loves of Sharon’s life), Grace and Sophia Helbert; her brother, Tony Harmon; and her two sisters and best friends, Penny Harmon Guy and Beatrice “Bea” Harmon Montgomery. Several nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and numerous friends also survive.
A celebration of Sharon’s life will be conducted at 7 p.m. Monday, August 15, in the Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with Pastor Mark Street officiating. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, prior to the service.
Sharon will be laid to rest beside her husband in the George Mottern Cemetery at 10 a.m. Tuesday, August 16, in the Watauga Community of Elizabethton. Active pallbearers will be selected from Sharon’s family and friends. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at Tetrick Funeral Home of Elizabethton at 9:15 a.m. Tuesday to go in procession to the cemetery.
