James Harold Matheson Sr., 84, Elizabethton, passed away Saturday, September 3, 2022, at Dominion Health Care Facilities, Bristol, Tenn.
A native of Carter County, he was born August 26, 1938 to the late Joe D. and Emma Simerly Matheson.
James was a local businessman having operated Matheson Machine Products for several years.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Marie Whitehead, Patsy Cates, Phyllis Garland and Shirley Johnson, and a brother, Kenneth Matheson.
Survivors include his son, James Harold Jr. and wife Susan; his daughter, Tammy Matheson and Gene Austin; and the mother of his children and love of his life, Shirley. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews, cousins and many special friends.
It was his wish to be cremated and a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Condolences may be sent to the family at our website, www.memorialfcelizabethton.com.
