Paul Ray Morrell, 82, Jonesborough, passed away Saturday, September 17, 2022, at Sycamore Shoals Hospital. He was born May 2, 1940 in Bluff City to the late Walter and Ada Nelson Morrell.
Paul was a retired dairy farmer. He loved to hunt and fish and was of the Baptist Faith.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Beatrice Lyons Morrell, who passed away July 15, 2016; a son, Eugene Coleman; his brothers, Howard, Earl, Bill and Claude Morrell; and three sisters, Mary Lee Coleman, Norma Faye Morrell and Mabel Maney.
Survivors include his sons, Martin Morrell, Scotty Morrell and Brian “Hippy” Morrell; the step-children, Stevie Phillips, Roy Phillips, Jerry Phillips and Treasa Head; several grand and great-grandchildren; several step-grand and great-grandchildren; four sisters, Mona Turner, Fairy Crumley, Nell Reed and Rose Foster and husband Darrell; his special friends, David and Sherry Stevens; his special great-grand-niece, Shae Truman; his great-nephew, Charles Turner Scalf; and also his special neighbors, Summer Ollis and Sawyer Stevens.
Funeral services will be conducted at 7 p.m. Tuesday, September 20, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with Pastor Scott Johnson and Pastor Derrick Hughes officiating. Music will be provided by the Little Mountain Baptist Church Quartet. The graveside service and interment will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, September 21, in the Lacy Cemetery, Roan Mountain. Active pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the funeral home at 9:15 a.m. Wednesday, will be David Stevens, Kevin Stevens, Joshua Stevens, Kevin Sprenger, Greg Maney and Keith Morrell. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Khan and the 3rd Floor Nursing Staff at Sycamore Shoals Hospital. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 9:15 a.m. Wednesday to go in procession to the cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the family at our website, www.memorialfcelizabethton.com.
