William “Ed” Simerly

William “Ed” Simerly, 80, Hampton, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, September 25, 2022, at his residence.
Ed was a lifelong resident of Carter County and was Deacon of Simerly Creek Fellowship Believers Church. He was a logger for over 30 years and did construction work most recently. Ed was a great man, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Marie Simerly; brothers, Norman and D.C.; sister, Linda Birchfield; and favorite daughter-in-law, Beatrice Simerly.
Ed is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Pat Simerly; children, Billie Allen (Mark) and William Eddie Simerly; grandchildren, Manuel Simerly (Brittany) and Isaac Simerly; great-grandson, Owen Simerly; siblings, Shelby Hughes, Harland Simerly, Gary Simerly (Jeanne), Brooks (Sandy) Simerly, Nick (Betsy) Simerly; favorite dog, Wam; very special nephew, J.B. Simerly; special friends, Kevin and Becky Lester and Dicky and Cindy Smith; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, September 29, at Simerly Creek Fellowship Believers Church, 806 Simerly Creek Road, Hampton, TN 37658. A funeral service will be held at 7 p.m. with Preacher Jimmy Holtzclaw officiating. Music will be provided by the church choir. A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, September 30, at Simerly Cemetery. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the cemetery by 12:30 p.m. Active pallbearers will be Bill Shoun, Dicky Smith, Steve Holtzclaw, Thomas Cooper, Junior Blevins and Roger Bailey. Honorary Pallbearers will be his church family, all of his wonderful friends, a very special neighbor, Rose Kraft, and Dr. Vivian Clark.
