Paul Edward “Bo” Gouge, 95, Elizabethton, passed away Tuesday, October 11, 2022, at Bristol Regional Hospital.
A native of Carter County, he was a son of the late Robert Avery and Etta Grace Kelly Gouge. He was a 1948 graduate of Unaka High School.
Paul served in the United States Air Force and was the retired owner of Bo’s Radio and Television Repair. In 2022 he was inducted into the Carter County Sports Hall of Fame. He loved fishing and spending his time outdoors.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Dorothy Jones Gouge, who passed away March 1, 2018; two brothers, Ulyss Gouge and Willard Gouge; and one sister, Mary Evelyn Hicks.
Survivors include three daughters, Paula (Tom) Hayes, Bristol, Va., Betty Hicks and Richard, Elizabethton, and Mary (Clinton) Reed, Watauga; seven grandchildren, Tara Hayes, Lindsey Hayes and Sean Michael, Kelly Chapman, Eddie Deloach, Katrina Peters, Austin (Lacee) Reed and Lucas (Caitlin) Reed; nine great-grandchildren, Haylea, Kate, Billy, Kylie, Timothy, Ariel, Rylan, Zayden and Allie; several nieces and nephews; and his special friends, Bill and Jerri Sunderland.
A graveside service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday, October 17, in the Mountain Home National Cemetery (Historic Section) with Pastor Carolyn Kidd officiating. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Military Honors will be provided by Bluff City Honor Guard DAV 39. Family and friends will assemble at the cemetery at 9:50 a.m. Monday.
