Wilma Mae Anderson, 76, of Roan Mountain, Tenn., passed away Sunday, October 23, 2022, at her residence. She was a native of Buncombe County, N.C., and the daughter of the late Hesley Harwood and Jo Alice Anderson. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Roger Anderson and Tippy Harwood.
Wilma retired from the Veterans Administration as a registered nurse. After retirement, she worked in home healthcare and local hospitals.
Wilma is survived by her significant other of 30 years, Steve Helton; daughters, Michele Renee Leisure (David), Lisa Antrim Dunham (Ron) and Racheal Helton Turbyfil (Travis); sons, Brian Antrim, Brad Antrim (Debbie) and Steven Helton; sister, Mary Jo Murch (Ken); brothers, Gene Harwood (Gail), Terry “Randy” Harwood and Gerald Harwood (Mary); grandchildren, Sydney Dunham (Joshua McCracken), Aidan Dunham, Rory, Riley and Joshua Antrim, Alexis Kirby (Brandon), Nicholas and Sarah Leisure, and Amelia and Hendrix Turbyfil; great-grandchildren, Emery McCracken and Dax and Dessa Kirby; special nephews, Curtis and Greg Anderson; and nieces, Allison Agarwall and Amanda Worrick (Joey).
Wilma loved anything aviation and took flying lessons. She loved muscle cars and loved restoring old cars with Steve.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, October 26, at Harwood Cemetery, Barnardsville, N.C., with Rev. Ben Johnson officiating.
