Multi-county chase leads to multiple charges

According to Washington County Sheriff Keith Sexton, on the morning of October 29, Carter County deputies were in pursuit of a motorcycle in their jurisdiction and it led into Washington County.

Devaunte Phillips, 24, of Milan, crashed his motorcycle on Woodlyn Road. Carter County deputies were then in a brief foot pursuit with Phillips. During the foot pursuit, Phillips fell, causing him to drop a firearm. Deputies were able to then take Phillips into custody without further incident. Carter County had numerous traffic charges and Washington County deputies charged Phillips with a convicted felon in possession of a handgun as well as possession of methamphetamine.
