Christmas open house Sunday afternoon in downtown Elizabethton

The Christmas lights have been mounted, the cookies baked, the stores decorated — all in preparation for the 25th annual Christmas open house in downtown Elizabethton, which will be held Sunday afternoon from 1 to 5 p.m.
According to Main Street Elizabethton, 20 plus downtown businesses will participate in the holiday event. Refreshments, sales, door prizes and gift wrapping are just some of the open house features.
The open house will kick off the holiday season in Elizabethton. It is also a good time to begin your holiday shopping and support small hometown businesses.
Courtney Bean, Elizabethton Main Street Director, said the open house is really the kick-off for all of the activities Elizabethton has to offer leading up to Christmas.
“It’s really important for people to shop locally. And I think that our downtown is just so magical during Christmas that it really just offers that experience,” said Bean. “There’s something for the whole family. Again, Santa will be here on Sunday.”

– Nov. 13 – Dec 16, Fort Watauga Gingerbread contest hosted by Elizabethton Chamber.
– Nov. 19 at 5 p.m. the Fraser Fir Lighting hosted by Carter County Bank.
– Nov. 19 at 6:30 p.m. the Candy Cane Quest hosted by City of Elizabethton Parks & Recreation.
– Nov. 26, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Small Business Saturday hosted by Main Street Elizabethton.
– Nov. 26 at 3 p.m. Skate by the Doe presented by Carter County Bank begins. The skate park is hosted by City of Elizabethton Parks & Recreation & Elizabethton Chamber.
– Nov. 26 at 5 p.m. Christmas Movie in the Park hosted by City of Elizabethton Parks & Recreation.
– Dec. 2 from 5 – 8 p.m. the Holiday Sip & Shop hosted by Main Street Elizabethton.
– Dec. 3 from 3 – 5 p.m. Character Christmas hosted by City of Elizabethton Parks & Recreation.
– Dec. 10 from 3 – 5 p.m. Christmas at Covered Bridge Park hosted by City of Elizabethton Parks & Recreation.
– Dec. 10 at 6 p.m. Elizabethton Christmas Parade hosted by Main Street Elizabethton.
– Dec. 17 from 9 a.m. – 6 p.m. the Holiday Wrap-up hosted by Main Street Elizabethton.
