That nip in the air means it’s time to get ready for the magical time of Christmas, and Saturday brings a day full of seasonal delights to Elizabethton.
Head over to 615 E. Elk Ave. for the Elizabethton Chamber of Commerce’s Santa visit event from 1 to 2:45 p.m. Children, pets, parents and friends are welcome to stop in and use their own devices or cameras to take photos. This event is free, but donations of canned kitten and dog food, as well as cleaning supplies, for the animal shelter would make the perfect gift for those animals in need. This event is sponsored by Carter County Bank.
Next up is Christmas at Covered Bridge Park. Spend the afternoon at this special pre-parade event. Storytime with Santa will take place from 3-4 p.m. and the Elizabethton Library will have books to take home (while supplies last). Stick around to enjoy a Christmas village, games, letters to Santa station, special appearances and free hot chocolate and cookies.
This free community event is also sponsored by Carter County Bank.
End the evening with the 2022 Elizabethton Christmas Parade. “All are encouraged to come out and enjoy an evening filled with lights, laughter and joy as we celebrate the Christmas season together,” said Elizabethton Main Street’s director, Courtney Bean. “We will have 80-plus entries to help us celebrate the season and our community.”
Main Street Elizabethton, the host of the annual parade in downtown Elizabethton, reports that this year’s theme is “Silver Bells,” honoring The Elizabethton Senior Center as the grand marshal.
“The Elizabethton Christmas Parade is such a time-honored tradition for our community,” Bean said. “Each year, I am blown away by the community who always shows up to support and the creativity of the float entries. It’s truly a magical time to celebrate the holidays and showcase the strength of our community!”
The parade begins at 6 p.m. and is sponsored by the following: Carter County Bank, adskills, Citizens Bank, Snap-on Tools, Elizabethton Federal Savings Bank, Mills Greenhouse & Landscape, State of Franklin Healthcare Associates, Northeast Community Credit Union and Community First Bank.
“Bring your silver bells to help spread the holiday cheer throughout the events,” Bean encouraged.
