Thelma Slagle Swanson, 57, Elizabethton, passed away Friday, December 9, 2022, at Johnson City Medical Center. She was born in Rogersville to the late Dr. David Slagle and Amy Lavonn Slagle.
Thelma was a member of Eastside Free Will Baptist Church. She enjoyed going to church, swimming, walking, eating out and spending time with friends and family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her twin sister, Shirley Slagle Tweed, and a brother, John David Slagle.
Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Greg Swanson, of the home; sister, Lisa Slagle, Hampton; niece, Stefanie Slagle; nephew, David Adam Slagle; and great-nephew, Townes.
A service to celebrate the life of Thelma Swanson will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, December 14, in the Chapel of Peace of Tetrick Funeral Home with Rev. Justin Deaton and Rev. Doug Hinshaw officiating. Music will be under the direction of Sabrina Keller. The family will receive friends between the hours of 12 and 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, prior to the service. The graveside service and interment will follow at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Those who prefer memorials in lieu of flowers may make donations to the American Diabetes Association, 4660 Old Broadway, Knoxville, TN 37918.
