Charges added to inmate for assault against First Responders after jail scuffle

JONESBOROUGH — Timothy Libbey, 32, of Athens, picked up three counts of aggravated assault against First Responders on Dec. 19 while attempting to assault Washington County Detention Center officers.
Libbey was in the Washington County Detention Center for aggravated assault, resisting arrest, aggravated assault against a First Responder and three counts of simple assault against a First Responder.
The Johnson City Police Department brought Libbey in on the original charges Dec. 17. One deputy sustained a serious injury to his arm during the altercation and was transported to a local hospital. The other deputies involved did not require medical treatment. Libbey was treated by jail medical staff on-site for minor injuries sustained from fighting.
His bond is currently set at $500,000.
