Lady Bulldogs and Lady Cyclones post wins in tournaments

Two local girls’ teams were in action Tuesday night, with the Lady Bulldogs winning the Big H BBQ Christmas Bash in Rogersville, T.N. and the Lady Cyclones posting a win in the Seahawk Classic in Hilton Head, South Carolina.

The Lady Bulldogs dominated from tip-off to buzzer en route to posting a victory in the Big H BBQ Tournament Championship.  The Bulldogs jump on the Lady Chiefs, outscoring them 23-3 in the first period, sparked by Madi McClain’s seven points. The route was on as Linsey Jenkins poured in 11, including two three-pointers in the second period, as the Lady Bulldogs went into the locker room up 49-14. The second half would see Coach Carpenter get his reserves some valuable playing time before Christmas break. Jenkins would lead the way with 14 for the Lady Bulldogs. Senior Madi McClain would score 13 on the night and her 1,000 points for her career and be named tournament MVP.
Macy Henry and Linsey Jenkins would be named All-Tournament.
Seahawk Classic Elizabethton 63 White County 49
Olivia Holly sparked a 21-point second period with two three-pointers to go into the locker room with a 12-point lead, 35-23. The Cyclones will face West View today in the Championship in Hilton Head. Lina Lyon would lead her team with 15, while Marlee Mathena would score 14 and Reiley Whitson would chip in 11. Coach Andrews spoke about his team’s efforts in the semi-final game,” I thought our kids played tough and battled through foul trouble tonight; every time White County made a run, our kids responded. I am extremely proud of our four quarters tonight.”
