Myrtle Mae “Ma” Roberts, 98, Elizabethton, went to be with the Lord on Monday, January 9, 2023, at Sycamore Shoals Hospital. She was born July 17, 1924 in Unicoi County to the late David and Mary Campbell Sneyd.
Myrtle was employed with the Carter County School System for several years as a cook. She loved to quilt, crochet and work in her garden. She was a member of Lyons Chapel Free Will Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Larn Ray Roberts; a daughter, Frankie Elsie Hubbard and husband Alfred; a grandson, Jeff Hubbard; a great-grandson, Cody Roberts; and 11 brothers and sisters.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Carl and Linda Roberts, of the home; three grandchildren, Mark Roberts and wife Karen, Carl Roberts Jr. “CJ” and wife Daphanie, and Karen Conner and husband Rick; eight great-grandchildren, Mike Coleman and wife Eve, Luke Roberts, Jasper Roberts, Emery Roberts, Grayson Coleman, Kandi Hubbard, Brandi Hubbard and Kayla Yelton and husband Wesley; and three great-great-grandchildren, Kennedy Hubbard, Dalton Beam and Hunter Hubbard. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted at 5 p.m. Thursday, January 12, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Arnold Hensley officiating. Music will be provided by Shon Blevins. The graveside service and interment will be at 1 p.m. Friday, January 13, in the Lyons Cemetery. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. The family will receive friends from 4 to 5 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. The family would like to express a special thank you to the Staff of Amedisys Health Care.
