On Tuesday, Jan. 24, community members are invited to attend a Public Open House to assist the City of Elizabethton in identifying transportation and mobility needs throughout the Downtown Main Street District.
The Open House will be held from 5:30 – 7 p.m. at the Coffee Company at 444 E. Elk Ave
Consultants from WSP, a transportation engineering and professional services firm, will be available to gather input and provide details on the plan. Members of the public may drop by any time during the Open House.
The City of Elizabethton has identified its Main Street District for the development of a Downtown Community Mobility Plan that will serve to help guide transportation investments and address the needs of a growing and vibrant downtown.
Elizabethton’s Main Street District has experienced increased activity that has brought to light the need to analyze issues related to multimodal accessibility, vehicular traffic, and circulation.
Information collected during the Open House will be used to help identify sustainable solutions that address increased pedestrian activity, safety, accessibility, traffic, and signage.
The plan is scheduled to be finalized by late summer. This effort is being funded through a Transportation Planning Grant (TPG) from the Tennessee Department of Transportation.
For more information on the Plan you may reach out to consultant Project Manager Mary Connelly at mary.connelly@wsp.com or Elizabethton Planning and Development Director Logan Engle at lengle@cityofelizabethton.org.
