According to the CDC’s 2020 Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System report, 19.5% of Tennessee residents smoke cigarettes, which is significantly higher than the national average of 12.5%.

That is one of many reasons why Carter County Drug Prevention is offering a free Freedom From Smoking Clinic for residents of Carter County and surrounding areas. The next group clinic begins on Wednesday, Feb. 8, and runs for six weeks.

The American Lung Association’s Freedom From Smoking® helps individuals who are interested in quitting nicotine of ANY kind to create their own unique quit plan, as well as tips and techniques to stay successful in the long run. Freedom From Smoking is ranked as the most effective smoking cessation program in a study of 100 managed care organizations conducted by Fordham University Graduate School of Business and has helped hundreds of thousands participants quit smoking.
