August Muse will host new local artist, Sharon Curtis, in her first collage art show. The opening will be Saturday, Feb. 18, from 3-5 p.m. as we welcome a new artist.
Sharon Curtis is a new artist and has spent the last five years honing her skills as a collage artist. Curtis claims no formal training in the arts. She says the work of an artist friend inspired her to believe that we all have art in us. “I saw her take old maps, photographs, and magazine cuttings and turn them into beautiful works of art without ever picking up a paintbrush. I thought, ‘I can do this!’”
Curtis creates useable art with her collages on old cigar boxes to create a beautiful place to hold keepsakes.
August Muse is a retail space dedicated to empowering the arts in Elizabethton. The retail store offers resources and items to inspire the dancer, musician, artist, and more.
