Local communications professionals, small business owners, employees of nonprofits and others can sharpen their smartphone photography skills at a hands-on workshop on Friday, Feb. 17, at 11:30 a.m. at Eastman’s Toy F. Reid Employee Center in Kingsport. The workshop is hosted by the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) Tri-Cities Chapter.
Carla Olson, a studio photographer at Eastman and owner of Carla Olson Photography, will lead the workshop. She will share tips for taking high-quality photos and showcase free photo-editing apps that can help improve shots. Participants also can put their newly learned skills to the test with a friendly photography competition at the end of the meeting.
“Communicators typically hone their writing skills but just wing it when it comes to photography,” said Jeff Pizzino, current PRSA Tri-Cities chapter president and owner of AuthenticityPR. “But if a picture is worth a thousand words…well, you get the picture.”
Workshop registration is $20 for PRSA Tri-Cities chapter members, $25 for nonmembers, and $15 for students. Lunch is included. Register by Feb. 16 at facebook.com/TriCitiesPRSA.
