The Elizabethton Parks and Recreation Department, Main Street Elizabethton, and the Elizabethton/Carter County Public Library are partnering together to celebrate the birthday of beloved children’s author, Dr. Seuss.
The popular Seuss on the Loose event will be throughout downtown Elizabethton and Covered Bridge Park on Saturday, March 4, from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. This event celebrates the works of Dr. Seuss in commemoration of his birthday by encouraging participants to pick up a Sneetch Sheet from the Elizabethton Library to begin the fun. Participants can visit a variety of stops at downtown Elizabethton businesses to encounter guest book readers, characters, crafts, decorations, and themed treats.
Once each stop is visited on the Sneetch Sheet, head down to Covered Bridge Park to continue the fun. From 12-2 p.m., guests will first turn in their completed Sneetch Sheets for a chance to win prizes and enjoy the park and all it has to offer! Elizabethton Parks and Recreation will transform the park into pages straight from books of Dr. Seuss and bring along guests such as the Cat in the Hat and the Grinch!
Special community partners will be set up throughout the park with fun giveaways. The Elizabethton/Carter County Public Library will have free books while supplies last, and free balloons and inflatables brought to you by Carter County Tourism and the Elizabethton Chamber!
