The Tennessee High Lady Vikings were looking to possibly snag some momentum as teams in the Upper Lakes Conference head toward district tournament time in a couple of weeks and a win over the state’s fourth-ranked team would more than be a big boost in the arm.
But instead of earning the boost, the Lady Vikings found themselves looking up from the floor after being sunk by the Lady Cyclones on Senior Night inside John Treadway Gym, 64-26.
This game was never in doubt as the Lady Cyclones seized the early lead right from the tip ringing up five consecutive three-pointers and then cruised through the remainder of the contest as their opponents struggled to find the bottom of the net.
Three seniors led the charge for the Lady Cyclones as sharpshooting guard Olivia Holly paced the Lady Cyclones with a game-high 17 points. Fellow senior Lina Lyon maintained her consistent scoring on the season as she sliced her way to 14 for the contest.
Senior Maddie Fowler closed out her Senior Night appearance as she rang up four treys on her way to 12 points leaving the nets blistered.
Another EHS senior, Renna Lane, just missed double-figure scoring as she tallied nine points in the contest. Junior Reiley Whitson totaled eight points, including two long treys, while junior Marlee Mathena and senior Katie Lee closed out the scoring with two points apiece.
Macie Strouth led the visiting Lady Vikings with five points on the night.
With her scoring output, Lyon moved into the top three scorers in Lady Cyclones history with the win over Tennessee High.
