The Second Annual Happy Tails 5K run and 1K pet walk is set to take place this Sunday, Feb. 12, at the Elizabethton Covered Bridge Park. The event is put on by the Friends of the Elizabethton-Carter County Animal Shelter, a 5013C organization whose mission is to support the shelter and its work to save the lives of pets in need. Last year there were 184 participants, with the expectation to have even more participants in this year’s event. Medals are presented for the best marathon times of the event!
The event will start at 2 p.m. at Covered Bridge Park. The public is invited to join the fun and get some exercise with their furry friend! Pets on leashes are encouraged to join. The entry fee is $25 before February 10; $30 the day of the event. All proceeds from this event will support a low-cost spay/neuter facility in Carter County. A free shirt is provided with the sign-up cost. The event is dog and stroller friendly. To register, visit FECCAS.org.
