Martha Sue Slagle Ford, 80, Elizabethton, went home to be with her Lord on Saturday, February 11, 2023, at her residence.
A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late Clayton Floyd and Virginia Dare Tester Slagle.
Martha was a graduate of Elizabethton High School. She formerly had worked in the City of Johnson City Manager’s Office and also at Nanny’s Country Kitchen. She was involved in the Recovery Soldiers Ministries.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Guy Perry Ford, who passed away August 16, 2021, and a brother, Tony Slagle.
Survivors include her daughter, Kim (Reggie) Scalf; three sons, Jeff Lethcoe, Evie and Jerry Lethcoe and Jimmy Ford; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; one sister, Barbara Hart (Gator) Dickie Tester; and one aunt, Betty Harris.
A graveside service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Thursday, February 16, at Happy Valley Memorial Park with her grandson, Pastor Joshua Scalf, officiating. Active pallbearers will be Michael Williams, Tony Slagle Jr., Mitch Presnell, Terry Rose, Zachary Rose, Freddie Malone, Brian Bowman and Gator Tester. The family would like to express a special thank you to the staff of Amedisys Hospice, Amy Rose and Sheena Scalf. The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Thursday.
