Beryl “Bud” Poole of Elizabethton, Tenn., passed away peacefully on Monday, March 20, 2023, at Johnson City Medical Center. Bud was born in Sullivan County, Tenn., to the late George Oscar Poole and Addie Bell Brown Poole. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters.
Bud retired from Eastman Chemical Company where he worked in the lab and as a pilot. He was a United States Army veteran, having served in the Korean War. Bud was a member of Little Doe Free Will Baptist Church. He enjoyed traveling, reading, especially westerns, and spending time with his family.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Joyce Poole of the home; his sister, Mary Stover of Fort Walton Beach, Fla.; his special children, Keith Honeycutt of Hampton and Karen Timbs, also of Hampton; a special nephew, Mark and wife Elaine; and several other nieces and nephews.
A graveside service to honor and celebrate Bud’s life will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, March 24, at Mountain Home National Cemetery (Historic Section) with Rev. Shane Waters officiating. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Bud’s church family will serve as honorary pallbearers.
