B&C Music offers music tutoring lessons at their store in Downtown Elizabethton. The store was founded by Elizabethton local Haley Jarnagin. She was in the band programs at T.A. Dugger, EHS, and ETSU, where she graduated with her degree in Music Education. Jarnagin taught music lessons privately during her time at ETSU. She decided to open up her studio in September 2021 in order to provide her students with a private place to practice and learn, where they would be free of distractions; in December she moved the studio to her new and current location.
In Jarnagin’s words, “B&C Music was created to be a resource for the community; we try to help out any way we can. With affordable lessons, useful retail products, and selling instruments for discounted prices, we are also very well-knit in the music community.” At B&C Music, they tutor band instruments, have a voice instructor, piano instructor, guitar lessons, and specialty classes. Haley Jarngin deeply loves the community. “This is where I grew up! We have been doing things to give back to the community. We will be more involved in the events of Downtown Elizabethton. My students really love animals, so we plan on collecting food and toys to donate to the local animal shelter…Not only do I want to create well-rounded musicians, but I also want to create good people.”
Jarnagin is not only working with her own private students but also teaches music lessons at the local schools. For now, she is only working in Elizabethton but she plans on bringing her passion and knowledge to county schools. B&C Music was founded by a member of the community and is a business for the community, hoping to inspire young musicians to greatness. As a small business, B&C Music does wish to be more well-known in the community. “We are trying to get our name out there; where we just moved to our new location, people don’t really know we are here. We rely heavily on word of mouth as well as social media, though word of mouth is the best way to be known when you have a small business.”
