Holy Week will begin at St. Thomas Episcopal Church of Elizabethton Sunday with Bishop Brian L. Cole of the Episcopal Diocese of East Tennessee leading service.
Cole, leader of some 14,000 Episcopalians around 34 counties of East Tennessee, will welcome new members and new ministries at St.Thomas, calling the church and community to unity, prayer, and commitment to Jesus Christ and His Gospel.
The public is invited to attend the service at 11 a.m. Sunday. Liturgy begins with the Blessing of the Palms and Procession into the historic church, the oldest in use in the city.
The Bishop and the congregation will hear the Passion from the Gospel of Matthew 27: 11-54 after which communion will be held.
St. Thomas’ new members and new ministries will be celebrated with the Bishop following worship.
