What is joy? The Google definition is “a feeling of great pleasure or happiness.” What do you find joy in? I thought about what gives me joy. When I come home and see my dog, Daisy, bouncing around the house to greet me, that gives me joy. I get great pleasure when my husband, Tim, and my stepson, Eli, come home after they have been at work and school. My husband will kiss me, and Eli will tell me all about his day. My joy increases when I talk or visit with my son, Dakota. I wish those times were more frequent, but he is grown and has a busy work schedule. Spending time with my family and friends also gives me a lot of joy.

I find much happiness in listening to the rain and feeling a breeze on my face. Joy is waking up with my RA, not bothering me too much. I find joy in a good cup of coffee made just right. Joy in getting a great parking space. Joy when the house is clean and the laundry folded. Joy in the quiet moments of just experiencing the life around me. The joy of fulfilling a dream come true. But my greatest joy is knowing that God will take care of me. He has prepared a place for me to spend eternity with Him. He loves me, and I am His child.

So what do you find joy in? Sunday morning church service. Lunch with a friend. A simple meal prepared with your spouse. The birds singing in the early morning. Time to read a good book. Whatever it is, I hope it gives you great joy!
