Fundraiser providing critical funding for the youth of Carter County
Presented by Citizens Bank, the 33rd Annual Dino Senesi Memorial Golf Classic will be held on Friday, May 12, at the Elizabethton Golf Course. Proceeds raised by the event will benefit the more than 500 Boys & Girls Club members of Elizabethton. Registration will start at 11 a.m. and lunch will be served at 12 p.m.
This great tournament is a 4-person team, select shot event with a 1 p.m. shotgun start. Golf foursomes include a cart and green fees, lunch compliments of Chick-fil-A, and drinks throughout the day provided by Food City, Ingles, and Walmart. A hole-in-one wins $100,000, courtesy of Ricky Walters of Horace Mann. There are four closest to the pin, longest drive, and putting contests with prizes. All participants receive a complimentary Nike golf polo shirt, a bag of goodies, and entrance into the door prize drawings.
The Classic is named after Dino Senesi, a long-time supporter of the club and a community member well known for his dedication to and love for children. Tommy Tipton, Golf Committee Chairman for the Club, explained, “Every year, this tournament gets bigger and better, and players are really going to see that. It’s not only going to be better for players, but we’re also trying to raise more money. More money means the Club can help more kids, serve more meals, help with more homework, and really, that’s what this whole thing is about.”
The tournament has been a staple in the Elizabethton community for decades, providing crucial funding for club youth; this year, its success is even more imperative. Shelly Parham, Chief Executive Officer of the Club, said, “We’ve been fortunate to continually grow our daily attendance. We are serving more kids, providing more meals, and implementing more quality programs to help children, teens and families in our county. With that growth comes an increased need for generating revenue to meet the need, which is why the Classic is so critical for our work and to this community.”
