• Friday, April 7
The Sycamore Shoals Hospital Auxiliary is sponsoring a Masquerade $5 jewelry and accessories fundraising sale on Friday, March 31, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. The sale will be held in the hospital’s Iris A & B, formerly classrooms A & B. Cash, debt or credit cards, and payroll deduct will be accepted. The proceeds from the sale will be used to benefit hospital patients and their families.

Boozy Creek Community Center, 1989 Shelleys Road, Bristol, Va., (276-466-0026) will hold a Fish and Chicken Meal at 4 p.m. Music will be provided by Bill Copas, “Steel Creek Band,” from 5 to 6:30 p.m. The Center has been having great attendance, fantastic food and wonderful bands! TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) will meet at First Baptist Church, 212 East F St., Elizabethton. Weigh-in begins at 5:30-6:30 p.m. with the meeting starting at 6:45 p.m. Everyone is welcome to attend these meetings. • Saturday, April 15
A State Certified Security Guard Class will be held at 135 Keenburg Road, Elizabethton, beginning at 8:30 a.m. State Certified Instructor Ken Potter will be instructing the class. The class will cover armed/unarmed and renewal. Range qualification is included. Instructor Potter has certifications from Commerce & Insurance, Homeland Security and the Department of Safety. Instructor Potter has been certified to teach all 4 blocks of Dallas Law that went into effect January 1. He will cover the new laws that affect security.
