Blair’s home runs lead Lady Highlanders over Lady Bulldogs

The Cloudland Lady Highlanders hosted the Hampton Lady Bulldogs on Tuesday night, using four home runs to take a 12-2 conference win. Ryleigh Nickles would get a one-out single in the top of the first, only to be left stranded on base. Cloudland would take a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first with a leadoff home run by Reagan Blair and a single by Kendall Birchfield. The lady Bulldogs would bounce back scoring a run in the top of the second when Abbie Lunsford reached on an error and Hannah Smith’s single would score Lunsford. Cloudland would be held scoreless in the bottom of the second, leading after two, 2-1. Hampton would tie the game 2-2 in the top of the third off an error. Turbyfill would lead off the bottom of the third with a single as the Lady Highlanders would retake the lead, 5-3, scoring three runs off singles by Turbyfill and Sluder. The Lady Bulldogs would be held scoreless the rest of the way and Cloudland would go on to add seven insurance runs. Nickles would lead Hampton going 2-2 with a home run and Hannah Smith would get the only other hit for the Lady Bulldogs. The Lady Highlanders would hit four home runs in the game with Blair hitting two and Birchfield and Mccurry adding one each.
Birchfield would get the win for Cloudland and Davis would take the loss. Cloudland is 3-0 in the conference and 4-0 overall and Hampton drops to 0-3 in the conference and 1-6 overall.
