JONESBOROUGH – On April 16, Washington County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a reported trespassing at an address on Greenwood Drive. Upon arrival, they found evidence of forced entry and both Michael Greene, 47, of Elizabethton, and Andrea Smith, 46, of Jonesborough, inside the home.
According to Sheriff Keith Sexton, the property owner was contacted and confirmed the house was supposed to be vacant and the occupants were there unlawfully. Deputies discovered Smith, who is a convicted felon, was in possession of a firearm. Both Smith and Greene were arrested and charged with aggravated burglary. Smith was also charged with unlawful carrying or possession of a weapon. In addition to the charges resulting from this incident, Smith had two outstanding warrants for failing to appear in Washington County General Sessions Court.
