Emelie Diana Seeley receives Milligan Outstanding Teacher Education Award

Emelie Diana Seeley received the Delta Kappa Gamma’s Outstanding Student Teacher Education Award from Milligan University. Seeley completed her student teaching at South Side Elementary School in Johnson City under the mentorship of Cindy Grindstaff (ESL), Anita Sutherland (5th grade), and Shana Whitaker (Kindergarten). Dr. Billye Joyce Fine was one of Seeley’s Milligan professors.
Seeley is from Elizabethton. She has been surrounded by educators her whole life, and she has always known she wanted to work with children. She attended Elizabethton High School, where she was a cheerleader, a member of the FCA, SGA, and the Honors Society. She has been a cheerleader at Milligan for four years and will graduate with honors. After graduation, Seeley will be a third-grade teacher at Inskip Elementary School in Knoxville.
Delta Kappa Gamma Society is a professional honorary society of women educators, which promotes professional and personal growth of its members and excellence in education.
Holly Ziglar, DKG President, has been a member of Delta Kappa Gamma since 2002. She currently teaches at University School at ETSU. Dr. Billye Fine, Milligan Professor, has been a member of Delta Kappa Gamma since 1972. While living in Florida, Dr. Fine served as president of her chapter and state officer, as well as presented workshops for the teaching organization in Florida and other states. Serving with DKG in Tennessee, since 2001, Dr. Fine has been honored with the Order of the Rose, which recognizes members for achievement and involvement at the chapter and state levels.
