The public doesn’t have to wait until City Hall opens on Monday mornings anymore as the release of a new online solution called SmartGov will allow for easier permitting, plan review, inspection services, planning and code enforcement.

“It is our hope that we can increase our services to the community while becoming more efficient through the use of this system,” said Logan Engle, City of Elizabethton Director of Planning and Economic Development.

The new portal will allow the public to apply for a building permit, submit plans, schedule inspections, and report code enforcement complaints fully online 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

When clicking on the link which is available on the city’s website at www.elizabethton.org, at the middle of the page or under Planning & Development under the Departments tab, residents will find a document file to aid in registering to use the site,

This access will be available beginning Monday, May 8, 2023, or by visiting the following website: https://ci-elizabethton-tn.smartgovcommunity.com/Public/Home .

The new portal will allow the public to conduct several types of business including the following:
* Apply for different types of permits.
* Submit drawings and other documents for review.
* Request an inspection.
* Receive emailed inspection results in real time.
* Look up pending applications, issued permits, and inspection results.
* Report code violations pertaining to city ordinances.

There will be an added benefit for customers as well which will be coming soon in the form of being able to pay permit fees online. However, until the payment tab has been activated, the public will have to pay fees in person using various forms of payment or over the phone by a credit card.

In order to access the SmartGov Permit Portal, all users must set up an account with an active email address. Once the account is registered by following the attached instructions, log in to the portal will be available.
