Joint investigation leads to first-degree murder, aggravated abuse, aggravated neglect indictments

JONESBOROUGH – A joint investigation by the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and the First Judicial District Attorney General Office let to grand jury Indictments and the arrests today of Gerald W. Doutt Jr., 73, and Vicki Jane Doutt, 70.
WCSO Deputies arrested the pair at their Jonesborough home and charged each with first-degree murder, aggravated abuse of an elderly or vulnerable adult and aggravated neglect of an elderly or vulnerable adult.
The charges stem from events that led to the death of Michael Doutt in August 2022. The pair were caregivers for Michael Doutt, who was Gerald Doutt’s brother.
The Doutts were transported to the Washington County Detention Center where they are each being held on a $250,000 bond. Their court appearance will be next term in Washington County Criminal Court.
