Library revs up for its summer offerings

May may bring blooming flowers, but June’s looking pretty good itself at the Elizabethton-Carter County Public Library and surrounding entities.
“May is full of opportunities and the month of June is going to be exciting, with new events added and the beginning of our Adult Summer Reading Program,” said Maryann Owen, the adult services and outreach librarian.
Here are things to mark on your calendars:

Spring hours for the Carter County Fiber Arts group are Mondays from 5:30-7:30 p.m. For all who love fiber arts and have a project, this event is for you. The group has folks who knit, crochet, needle point and felt.

The Courtyard Community (for residents only) has a Carter County Health Assessment survey coming May 16 from 2-3:30 p.m. at the Courtyard. It’s an anonymous survey and snack bags and care bags are available for participating in the event. Also at the Courtyard is Courtyard Crafts and Coloring for residents every first Tuesday from 3-4:30 p.m. All supplies are provided.

The Coloring Connection is the second Tuesday of each month from noon-2 p.m. at 201 N. Sycamore St. All supplies are provided.

Every Wednesday from 1-3 p.m. is Tea Talk with Patti at Glow Herbals. Interested in learning about herbs? Come join adult services for the free Tea Talk!

Help save the Monarch butterflies! Learn how to raise them May 22 from 4-5 p.m. There is a limited supply of plants and seeds available for only 20 participants, so register now by calling 423-547-6360.
Roger Clark presents General Gardening on May 20 from 10-11:30 a.m. at the Elizabethton-Carter County Public Library. It’s free, so pop in and learn how to make your garden grow. Sponsored by the Carter County UT Extension Institute of Agriculture at the University of Tennessee.
