Milligan University has announced the launch of its formal search process to identify the university’s next president, following the April announcement that current president Bill Greer will retire in summer 2024 and transition to the role of chancellor. The Milligan Board of Trustees has formed a presidential search committee led by board chair and Milligan alumnus Dick Phillips, a retired higher education administrator from Unicoi.
Other trustees who will serve as members of the search committee include Lottie Ryans, a businesswoman in Johnson City, along with Milligan alumni Eric Deaton, a healthcare executive in Johnson City; Brenda Green, a businesswoman in Elizabethton; David Hamilton, a businessman in Pooler, Ga.; David Hamlin, a minister in Shelbyville, Ky.; and Cal Wilson, a retired investment banker in Johnson City.
Campus representatives include alumni Jeff Bourn, assistant women’s basketball coach, and Andy Hull, area chair and associate professor of physician assistant studies, along with Angela Hilton-Prillhart, associate dean of the School of Social Sciences and Education and associate professor of education, and current senior Evan Magness, Student Government Association president.
Alumnus Brian Talty, lead pastor of First Christian Church in Decatur, Ill., who serves on the university’s board of advisors, also is part of the search committee.
The charge of the search committee is to recommend to the board of trustees the candidate who is most qualified to lead Milligan University as its next president. The search committee will base its recommendation on the leadership criteria and requirements already established by the board. The board will make the final selection and appointment.
