Elizabethton’s annual Christmas parade, themed “Seasons of Lights,” is set to bring festive cheer downtown on Saturday at 6 p.m. The event promises to dazzle with colorful floats and twinkling lights along the parade route.
To accommodate the festivities, road closures will begin at 3 p.m. on Elk Avenue from Lynn to Main Street, followed by Lynn Avenue from C Street to E. Doe Avenue, and E. Elk Avenue from Roan to Lynn at 4 p.m. Sycamore and Main Street will close at 5:45 p.m. to facilitate North/Southbound traffic flow until the parade commences.
The City of Elizabethton Parks and Recreation Department has been chosen as this year’s Grand Marshal, honoring their contributions to the community through family-friendly events and accessible outdoor spaces. Main Street Director Courtney Bean expressed excitement, highlighting the department’s role in bringing light and joy to the area.
Floats decorated to embody the theme’s essence – the joy of lights – are encouraged, aiming to showcase creativity with twinkling lights and light-up accessories. The parade will feature Santa Claus atop a firetruck, alongside performances by award-winning local bands like Elizabethton High School Band, T.A. Dugger Junior High School Band, county high school bands, and the Elizabethton Shriners Band. Additionally, floats from area churches, clubs, organizations, and local fire departments will add to the celebratory atmosphere.
