Holston Habitat for Humanity will have a dedication ceremony June 12 for the new Elizabethton home of Jesse, his partner Judi, and their five daughters. The event marks a significant milestone in the family’s journey towards stable and secure housing, made possible through the generous support of the Citi Foundation.
The dedication is scheduled for at noon, and will celebrate the completion of a five-bedroom, two-bathroom home that includes a brand-new appliance package, energy-efficient building designs, and finishing touches the homebuyers picked out themselves. Jesse, Judi, and their blended family will be joined by representatives from Holston Habitat for Humanity, local volunteers, community leaders, and supporters to commemorate this joyous occasion.
Holston Habitat could not build new homes throughout the region without the support of “The Regulars,” a local and committed group who travel extensively to volunteer throughout the organization’s service area. This new Elizabethton home also would not be possible without the support of Eddie Bales, who supported as a site supervisor on this project.
Jesse and Judi’s story is one of resilience, determination, and hope. With a family of seven, including five vibrant young girls, the need for adequate housing space was paramount. Through the partnership with Holston Habitat for Humanity and the sponsorship of the Citi Foundation, Jesse and Judi’s dream of owning a safe and stable home has become a reality.
“We are beyond grateful for the opportunity to move into our new home,” said Jesse. “It’s not just a house; it’s a place where our family can thrive, where we can create memories, and where our girls can grow with the security and stability they deserve.”
The new home provides ample space for the family, offering peace of mind and the assurance of a stable foundation for their future. Holston Habitat for Humanity’s dedication to affordable housing and community empowerment, combined with the generosity of the Citi Foundation and the Elizabethton community, has made a profound impact on Jesse, Judi, and their daughters’ lives. “Working alongside Jesse and Judi to help make their homeownership dreams a reality has truly been my privilege,” said Lydia Atchley, Homeowner Services and Outreach Manager for Holston Habitat for Humanity. “They have provided over 250 sweat equity hours and completed their financial education classes with pride. Their dedication to their girls and this program has been amazing to witness.” Jesse’s home is the 20th house built in Elizabethton by Holston Habitat and the 343rd family served in their nearly 40-year presence in the Appalachian Highlands area.
The dedication ceremony will include a ceremonial key presentation, speeches from the community, and an opportunity for Jesse, Judi, and their family to express their gratitude to everyone involved in making their homeownership dream a reality.
Members of the press, community partners, and the public are invited to join the dedication ceremony at 1654 Central Avenue, Elizabethton, and witness the transformative impact of affordable housing on Jesse, Judi, and their girls.
