The Johnson City Fire Department (JCFD) wants to help ensure the smallest members of our community are secured properly when families hit the road by hosting a free child safety seat check on July 25.
During the event, certified car seat technicians with the JCFD will install child safety seats, inspect safety seats to ensure they are installed correctly, and provide information on how to choose the correct safety seat for your child.
“Statistics show a majority of child safety seats are installed incorrectly. This event will help address the issue by providing parents and caregivers with expert assistance and education on proper child safety seat usage. We are here to support families in making sure children are as safe as possible while traveling,” said JCFD Chief David Bell.
The child safety seat checkpoint will take place July 25 at Station 1, 2238 Watauga Road, from 2-5 p.m. Additional checkpoints will be scheduled at different locations throughout the year.
Child safety seat checks are not limited to these events. Typically, at least one car seat technician works every JCFD shift. For information on how you can schedule a child safety seat inspection, call 423-975-2840.
