Food City presents a check to Breakthrough T1D, formerly known as the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. Each year, Food City hosts a company-wide “sneaker” fundraising campaign to benefit Breakthrough T1D. The 2024 promotion ran during the month of May, with Food City shoppers invited to contribute at the register. “Diabetes is a serious issue facing many of our associates, our customers, and their family members, and we are proud to partner with Breakthrough T1D to help find a cure for juvenile diabetes,” said Food City President and CEO Steven C. Smith. Pictured at the check presentation are Food City personnel Woody Woods, Kim Tabaku, Robert Gladwin, Betsi James, Greg Sparks, Katie Penny, Steven Jones, and Lori Marsh of Breakthrough T1D.
