18-year-old killed in Johnson City shooting, police investigating

JOHNSON CITY — Officers with the Johnson City Police Department responded to a reported shooting early Sunday morning in the 200 block of East Main Street near Majestic Park.

Upon arrival at approximately 2 a.m. on Sept. 8, investigators found two victims with gunshot wounds. Both individuals were transported to a local hospital for treatment.

One of the victims, 18-year-old Charles Dabney of Greeneville, succumbed to his injuries. The other victim was treated and released.

According to investigators, the shooting appears to have been an isolated incident stemming from an altercation earlier in the evening.

No arrests have been made at this time, and the investigation remains ongoing.
