With the Nov. 15 deadline approaching, Carter County urgently needs five volunteer mentors to support local students applying for the TN Promise scholarship. This year, over 67,000 students statewide have applied for the scholarship, and mentors are essential to provide the local guidance necessary for students to achieve a post-secondary credential.
tnAchieves mentors help high school graduates navigate college applications, answer questions, and connect them with resources. Many TN Promise applicants are first-generation college students facing unique challenges in the college-going process. Volunteers provide guidance with a time commitment of less than one hour per month.
“tnAchieves is working to prepare Tennessee’s future workforce, which is only possible when Carter County thrives,” said Tyler Ford, tnAchieves Vice President of External Partnerships. “Mentors are vital to connecting students with post-secondary pathways that lead to meaningful careers.”
