With the season on the line, junior Justius Wallin knew something needed to change to revive the Elizabethton Cyclones’ offense.

That shift came late in the game against the visiting Knox Fulton Falcons, as Wallin took advantage of a kickoff return by senior Kyron Smalls to spark the team. From that moment, with just over three minutes left in the third quarter, Wallin took over.

Wallin punched in a seven-yard touchdown run with 31 seconds left in the third quarter, breaking the Cyclones’ scoreless streak and cutting Fulton’s lead to 13-7.

The Cyclones hadn’t led the entire game until Wallin used his size and speed to tie it at 13-13 with 7:47 left on a 13-yard score that broke the Falcons’ spirit. Will Bowers’ extra point gave the Cyclones a lead they wouldn’t relinquish, securing their spot in Friday night’s second-round game at Anderson County.

Wallin finished with 17 carries for 110 yards and two touchdowns. Not only did he excel on offense, but he also recorded a sack on the Fulton quarterback and contributed to several other tackles.

For his efforts, Justius Wallin is this week’s Cyclone Player of the Week.
