The traditional Storytime with Santa event will be a lively celebration for the whole family, featuring inflatables, music, Storytime with Santa, and more!

Both sessions are free to the public and will take place at the Elizabethton Recreation Center at 300 W. Mill St.

Free books will be provided by the Elizabethton/Carter County Public Library, while supplies last.

Winter Stories by the Fire

Winter Stories by the Fire will be held Friday, Dec. 20, from 10 to 11 a.m. at Sycamore Shoals State Park.

Join Park Ranger Taylor Moorefield for a seasonal story time inside a log cabin. Various traditional stories will be shared, including some centered around the Christmas season during the 18th century. Learn about General Washington’s crossing of the Delaware on Christmas Day, our own Landon Carter, and the revolutionary battles he fought in during the Christmas season of 1780, as well as more far-fetched tales – like when Davy Crockett saved the world by thawing out the sun one cold winter morning. Meet at the Talbot Cabin inside Fort Watauga.

There is a cost of $8 for adults and $4 for youth ages 7 to 17. Registration is required.

Stuffed Animal Adoption Event

Home for the Holidays: A Stuffed Animal Adoption event will be held Saturday, Dec. 21, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Elizabethton-Carter County Public Library. Children can design their own animal collar and tag, receive an official adoption certificate, enjoy animal-themed treats and much more.

A total of 200 stuffed animals are available for adoption, first come, first served. The host for the event is the Carter County Drug Prevention Coalition.
