Dewey Edward Colbaugh, age 75, of Gainesville, Georgia, went home to be with his Lord on Thursday, Jan. 23, 2025, from Northeast Georgia Medical Center.  He passed away peacefully surrounded by family.

The family will receive friends from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 27, 2025, at Memorial Funeral Chapel, 212 N. Main St., Elizabethton, TN., with graveside services to follow at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 27, 2025, in Blevins Cemetery in Elizabethton, Tenn., with the Rev. Bruce McGee officiating.

Active pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the funeral home at 1:30 p.m. Monday, will be Jason Street, Ryan Alderson, Anthony Murray, Phillip Peters, Mike Carter and Joe Street. Honorary pallbearers will be Mark Peters and Chad Street.

 Dewey was born in Elizabethton, Tenn., to the late Clyde Colbaugh and Verna C. Peters. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Roger Dale Colbaugh; two brothers-in-law, Larry Alderson and Harold Street; and his mother’s second husband, Frank Peters.

A graduate of Unaka High School in Elizabethton, Dewey worked in the medical field, specializing in radiology as both an X-ray technician and servicing equipment used for mammography. He was a member of Lakewood Baptist Church.

A talented musician, Dewey often played his guitar and harmonica with friends or while serving in church. He also loved coaching his sons in sports, fishing, playing golf, and spending time with family.

Survivors include his loving wife of 50 years, Jennifer Magee Colbaugh; two sons, Andrew Watson Colbaugh and Jeremy Dale Colbaugh and wife, Marti; three grandchildren, Audrey, Norah, and Marissa; and two sisters, Sue Colbaugh Alderson and Sandra Colbaugh Street. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Services in Elizabethton, Tenn., will be handled by Memorial Funeral Chapel, 212 N. Main St., Elizabethton, TN 37643.

Memorial Park Riverside Chapel, 989 Riverside Drive, Gainesville, Ga., is in charge of arrangements.
