Elsie Fern Grindstaff Clark, 92, of Hampton, Tenn., went home to be with the Lord on Monday, February 3, 2025, at Hermitage Health Care in Elizabethton. Elsie was born in Johnson County, Tenn., to the late Robert “Bob” Grindstaff and Leta Margaret Stout Grindstaff. In addition to her parents, Elsie was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Arnold Clark, on March 9, 2014; her sisters, Dora Blackburn, Donna J. Blackburn and Ilean Gwyn; and brothers, Kyle Grindstaff and Justin Bud Grindstaff.

Elsie retired as a beautician after 40 plus years and was a 75-year member of Union Baptist Church in Hampton. She enjoyed gardening and being a homemaker.

Those left to cherish her memory include her special, loving sister, Eldona Norris; special niece, Letha (Mac) Stricklin, who took care of her; her sister-in-law, Marylou Grindstaff; and several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service to celebrate Elsie’s life will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, February 8, at Happy Valley Memorial Park with Rev. Richard Stout, Mr. Mark Grindstaff, Mr. Richard Tester, Union Baptist Church. Pallbearers will be Mac Stricklin, Robbie Norris, Darryl Hendrix, Mark Grindstaff, Jimmy Blackburn and Cade Norris. Music will be under the direction of Lisa Hendrix and Whitney Stricklin. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at Tetrick Funeral Home of Elizabethton at 10:15 a.m. to go in procession to the cemetery. The family would like to express a special thank you to all the doctors, nurses and caregivers at Hermitage Health Nursing Home and Amedysis Hospice, especially Megan, for the loving care shown to Elsie during her illness.
